Double 6 Lucky-Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor

The Battle of Guningtou took place in Kinmen in October 1949. During the battle, an M5A1 tank, numbered 66, positioned on the beach of Kinmen contributed greatly to the war effort and wrote a glorious page in the Battle of Guningtou. The tank fired the first shell of the battle, eventually bringing victory and peace to the country. It is a symbol of bravery and honor, so Tank No.66 is often called the guardian of the island of Kinmen.

西元1949年10月台灣金門發生金門戰役史稱「古寧頭戰役」，戰役期間留守在沙灘上的66號M5A1戰車功不可沒，在「古寧頭戰役」中寫下光榮的戰史，他在戰役中發出"第一枚砲彈"，為國家帶來勝利的戰役與和平，他是勇敢與榮耀的象徵，因此66號戰車被稱為金門的守護神。

Even though it has been 70 years since the "Battle of Guningtou" ended, the memory of the victory is never be forgotten by the soldiers and the local people who participated in this historical moment. Furthermore, Tank No. 66 forms as a bridge that bonds the people and the island. It is displayed in the Kinmen Museum Taiwan for people to visit and study their history.

「古寧頭戰役」至今已有七十年，參與金門「古寧頭戰役」的將士們與人民對「金門的守護神」擁有相當深厚的情感與回憶，他是戰爭歷史的見證也是特別的感情，參與戰役的66號實體戰車目前展示在台灣金門博物館中。

We incorporate the look of Tank No.66 into the design of the liquor bottle which is made by the porcelain firing process involving a total of 18 procedural steps. The bottle resembles a tank model. It has road wheels, drive wheels, and chain tracks. The bottle opening is on the turret with the main gun which can rotate 360 degrees. The bottle is made of fired porcelain, with an appearance that looks like a metal shell. The matte glaze is a breakthrough from the traditional glazing technique.

我們將M5A1戰車66號作為酒器的外型設計，以瓷器燒製工藝，一共18道工序，構想瓶身仿真坦克車模型樣式，擁有路輪、動力輪與履帶造型，瓶頭設計於有主砲的砲塔，可旋轉360度，表面陶瓷燒製如同金屬外殼材質，霧面的上釉技術突破了傳統的釉彩加工思維。

The bottom display also imitates the actual sand and turf. The sand surface is left with wheel marks, symbolizing the traces left by the war.  

展示底座也仿照實際沙地與草皮，沙地上留下坦克車的輪痕，代表著戰爭留下的痕跡。

In the design and development process, there are technical hurdles to overcome to make the porcelain able to contain and preserve the liquor. When firing complex lines and hollow porcelain in a kiln, the control of temperature is a technical breakthrough. The production process adopts manual throwing, trimming, underglaze drawing, and complex high-temperature glaze firing. The goal is to give the product a complete integration of the procedures.

在設計開發過程中，完成可盛裝並能保存酒液的瓷器，需做大幅度的技術克服。複雜線條與中空的瓷器在窯中燒製，在溫度上的掌控更是技術的突破點；製作過程中採用人工製胚、修胚及手工釉彩繪製，施以複雜技術高溫釉燒制而成。為了就是給予產品做完整性的整合。

During the more than one year of the development process which involved design, mold testing and high-temperature firing, while achieving a success rate of only 30% in ceramic firing, we showed our persistence in the product. Just like the war heroes back in those days, selflessly and fearlessly, defending the island of Kinmen, we battled courageously, and finally succeeded in creating the tank-shaped liquor bottle made of porcelain. 

在歷經一年多的設計開發與模具測試及高溫燒製測試，即使製作過程中陶瓷燒製只有三成的成功率下，對此產品的堅持，猶如當初在金門無私無畏保衛著這塊土地的國家英雄們的決心與毅力一樣，越挫越勇，終於成功塑造了以瓷器製成的戰車造型酒器。

We turn "6" 180 degrees into "9", Numbers 6 and 9 mean lucky in Chinese. "6" has the meaning of wishing for prosperity, and "9" has the meaning of longevity. Therefore, the Tank No. 66 liquor is named "Double 6 Lucky". Blessing everyone for prosperity and longevity forever.

數字『6』轉180度為數字『9』，『6』和『9』在中國是吉祥數字，『6』具有祝福事業發達的意思，『9』具有長長久久的意思，故將66號戰車酒器取名為『Double 6 Lucky』。祝福一切六六大順，長長久久。

In an ideal terroir of Kinmen with perfect longitude and latitude for making liquor, KKL produces "VSO Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor" by following exclusive distilling techniques "3 High, 2 Low, 1 Turn" Pure Grain Solid State Fermentation. The heart is cut off from foreshot and aftershot, and then stored in granite tunnel at constant temperature and humidity to accelerate maturation. Creating the best kaoliang liquor with rich flavor, silky smooth texture, and lingering aftertaste.
